A Second Home

Last weekend Amanda and I flew to Colorado to join my brother and his wife along with my dad for a week long vacation in the San Juan Mountains.  Tuesday, during our excursion into the mountains, my dad passed away due to heart complications after an accident on his ATV.  We were hours into the mountains without communication and help could not reach us in time.

Colorado was a second home to Dad. Even the locals who lived there knew him because he was there so often.  He loved Colorado so much in fact that he called me 2 weeks before we were to leave to let me know that he was packed and ready.  He was looking forward to this trip for a long time.  I know he enjoyed the time spent with us and his sister the few days we were there.

I remember the trips to Colorado when we were kids. It was during those trips that I became interested in photography.  Dad had a Pentax M7 that he used to photograph landscapes that are hanging on the walls of his house to this day.  I guess he tried to bring Colorado home.

These photographs are for you, Dad.  I love you and miss you.

Matt Lange - I’m not sure what to say. Nothing I type will be significant enough and can’t convey what I truly feel. You’re dad was a great man. I know you loved him and I know he loved equally in return, if not more. I am honored to have met him. I wish I knew him more, but am happy with the small talk that we shared. You know Chelsea and I love you and we are here for you always. So proud to be your friend….

    …..and the images are stunning.

Jeanne Maylon - Henry – you and Amanda are in our family’s thoughts and prayers. Your pictures are beautiful, as usual, and I think you really captured family in those images. Your dad will be remembered through your talent. That is something to cherish for a lifetime. If you or your family need anything, don’t hesitate to give Mike or I a call. We love y’all!

Debbie Zimmer - Henry, I am so sorry for your loss. I will keep you and your family in my prayers. I didn’t know your father but I can tell that he was a wonderful man because I know the son he raised. I know he must of been proud of the fine young man you have become. I’m available if you need anything and Matt is right the images are stunning.

Shannon - Though I’ve never been blessed enough to meet you Henry, I love and adore Amanda as if she were my own flesh and blood. My heart is hurting for both of you; however, I’m so inspired by the courage your father had to live life to the fullest! I hope to make the best of every moment and see beauty everywhere I look! Please know you and your family are in my thoughts and prayer!
